THE “FORE” BUSINESS OPEN CHAMPION IS ANNOUNCED……!

Yesterday Arron Busst and I had the pleasure of hosting our members from across the UK. We started greeting our competitors from 08.30am ensuring that social distancing was in place at all times, I must say The Belfy ran a very tight ship yesterday and they should be applauded for their support in these challenging times.

The PGA course was in fine shape considering how much rain the region has had in the last 7 days and I wish to thank all the green keeping staff, great job guys……..! A special thanks to Sam the starter who was incredibly helpful to both Arron and I throughout the morning.

I am delighted to announce that Matt Robinson from BBS Promo is officially this years “FORE” Business Open Champion…!

The Results

1st Place Matt Robinson scoring 42pts off 14

2nd Place Paul Cliffe scoring 40pts off 17

3rd Place Jay Punshon scoring 39pts off 14

Since 2015 Matt has attended a number of national events and has come away empty handed, this year he smashed it out of the park, many congratulations Matt, you thoroughly deserve to be crowed this years “FORE” Business National Open Champion.

Considering the conditions everyone did incredibly well off the 1st tee, I must mention that Jay Punshon managed to reach the edge of the green with a ridiculous 331 drive off the 1st……! I was also delighted to learn on the 1st tee, that between Anthony Bedson and Jay Punshon they have shared in excess of £120k worth of business between them WELL DONE GUYS…..!

Moving on from the 1st tee we invited our competitors to compete in the longest drive, nearest the pin and an additional longest drive for the 19+ handicappers kindly sponsored by Barry Groves. In fact Barry from The Yorkshire Wine Rascal – Wine Supplier kindly donated a bottle of fizz for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place players and wine for the additional competitions, thank you again Barry

A special thanks must also go to Gareth Hilton who kindly kept me up to date with the current placings on the additional competitions. All from the warmth of his budgie, but not any old buggy, Gareth purchased a stunning buggy rain cover that kept him dry through the whole round, now that is what you call being prepared.

The winners for the additional competitions were:

Phil Kelly Longest Drive Lee Kinsella has got your wine and goodies

Ian Bluck Nearest the Pin

Neil Taylor Longest Drive 19+ Handicapper

Arron and I often get asked if we are playing in the National Events, the simple answer is we would LOVE to. However, having the chance to meet up with our amazing community and ensure we are doing all we can to help and support them is incredibly important to us.

Thank you also to Colin Young for arranging the day and ensuring everyone knew where they had to be at all times…..!

We are so pleased that we continued with our plans to stage our National Open at The Belfry, it was so refreshing to see our members having so much fun and we can’t wait to welcome to many of you to our North v South Clash on the 19th October 2020.

Thank you to everyone who attended our National Open, I am sorry I was unable to give you all a BIG FAT HUG and a special mention to members that were unable to make it, we hope to see you all very soon.

Take care everyone, play well and NETWORK HARDER…….!
